Recognition Process

Why "Recognition" and not "Certification"?

There is currently no official national guide certification in Norway, though one is being developed based on standards issued by Standard Norway. This course incorporates content from that standard, which will be validated in the future for guides seeking the certification.

We will continue developing new courses within this framework, aiming be able to issue the national certification as well as a local one.

Currently, this recognition is acknowledged at the local level by Visit Tromsø.

To obtain recognition diploma from the TGF, participants must fulfill the following conditions:

Attend at least 90% of the training sessions.
Pass the exam.
Show proof of completing a first aid course within the last 2 years.
Hold an active membership with the Tromsø Guideforening.

Once all criteria are met, the guide will receive a diploma and a patch. Their name and photo will also be added to the official list of recognized guides on the Tromsø Guideforening website.

Maintaining Accreditation

The recognition does not expire, provided the guide remains active in the Tromsø region (with no periods of inactivity exceeding 3 years).

Code of Conduct

During the training, guides will be instructed on a Code of Conduct to follow while guiding. Violations of this code will be subject to penalties, including the potential loss of recognition.
